Both are trying to pitch you a service.
Email #1:
Hi friend. Plz hire me. I very good porject consultant. I make you lots of mony. You can trust. Michael, friend of you (CPA) tell me to write. I'm da best for this task. I give you good deal.
Email #2:
Hi there. I hope this finds you well. My name's Dillon and I'm a project consultant. Sorry to write you out of the blue but a mutual friend of ours (Michael, your CPA) gave me your contact information. I'm confident I can help you and we can come to an agreement that makes us both very happy.
Which one would you trust more?
Obviously, #2.
Even if both are equally good and qualified for what you need.
Why? Because appearances matter.
Even if the person that wrote Email #1 was just as qualified, no-one would hire them. They look sloppy. Like they didn't care enough to write it properly, or even run it through ChatGPT.
It would feel untrustworthy.
Now flip that.
If your speech is filled with hesitation, unclear pronunciation, and jumbled delivery ...
Even if what you're saying is smart, Americans have to mentally strain to understand you.
And then, they do something dangerous: They start making assumptions about your competence.
You come across as nervous. Unprepared.
Or worse: not credible.
The messed up thing is that they don't even realize they're doing it. It's subconscious.
It's not fair. But it's real.
We all know first impressions matter.
If your message isn't landing clearly, you won't even get the chance to make the impact you're capable of.
People don't just trust what they read clearly.
They trust what they hear clearly.
Clear, confident speech is like clean, confident writing. It sets people at ease so they can focus on the content and value of what you have to say.
I used to be in your exact situation.
When I came to the US in 2014 to study acting, I had a very noticeable accent. I'm German. If you're not aware, Germans are notorious for having particularly unpleasant accents. People make fun of us on TV and in movies all the time. To our faces too! It's definitely not considered a 'sexy' accent, that's for sure.
If you're anything like me, having an accent and struggling to communicate confidently is extremely uncomfortable.
In my own native language, I was always really quick witted and articulate. Now, I felt like I'd lost a big part of myself even though I'd been really good at English in school.
In New York City, I paid $40,000 to learn the craft of acting. To unlock the full potential of my voice & speech. To understand 'phonetics' and accents. How to transform my foreign accent and actually sound clear, confident, credible and more American. Without sounding fake.
So much so that 99% of the Americans have no idea I'm not a native until I tell them.
It completely changed the way I communicate. I'm able to speak English so freely that I can focus on communicating my ideas and expressing myself authentically.
That's why I'm offering this accent assessment. I want to give you the starting point to experience this freedom for yourself.
Because what does speaking freely, confidently, clearly mean?
You will earn more money. And you will form more social connections. You will enjoy life more.
